Hike, swim, kayak, row, bungee, and boat the Gorges du Verdon, France
Just a day trip from Cannes to the Verdon Canyon will not be enough time here. Stay a minimum of 3 days to truly enjoy this area to the fullest. The winding roads were spectacular in my new sports car (2002) and also an adventure the second time (2004), traveled by bus with a group. Grasse is an excellent lunch or coffee stop. Castellane is a must, especially for dinner, local shopping and to stay overnight. This is a good base for hiking the area. Boaters will want to continue into the canyon by driving the rim with spectacular views of the gorge.
This winding mountain road is a slow experience with the charming village of Moustiers Saint Marie. Kayaks, canoes, and paddleboats are available for rent, and details are included in your StarkTours tour packet.
One of my favorite hikes (14 km – 5 hours-6 hours) The Sentier Marte has now become the classic in the Gorges by others as well. This trail allows views from the top as well as from the river beds as it follows the course of the Verdon River. Beginners should start from Chalet de lar Maline and walk back towards your vehicle at Couloir Samson or Point Sublime since the steeper sections are on the way back. The trail goes through two tunnels so a flashlight is a must.
If you are interested in organizing a group of 20 or more travelers, your tour would be included at no additional charge. Taxes would be collected based on the price and services of the package. Contact reservations directly for more details.
