Rhine Romance from Speyer – Heidelberg – Worms and more! The Neckar and Rhine Rivers region is one of our owner’s favorite places to explore by bike. Having lived just south in Karlsruhe, she has enjoyed this region often. It’s very scenic on and off the river banks with many cultural highlights.
While Heidelberg is known as a city along the river with the castle ruin and gardens overlooking the city. Heidelberg is home to the oldest university town in Germany. Speyer has a beautiful cathedral and city center with many small quaint villages nearby. Worms is an ancient imperial city with charm. This tour follows many of the German wine routes through the second-largest wine region in Germany. The Route is mainly on flat terrain. Only in the vineyards between Worms and Bad Dürkheim are there some slight climbs.
