Lake Geneva Adventures – Kayak and Cycle

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERARafting the Arve through the city and paddling on Lake Geneva in Lausanne. From the Savoy Alps into the heart of the city: A great outdoor adventure. Lake Geneva has the mildest climate and is the largest lake in Central Europe.

The shipping company CGN operates eight paddle steamers, the largest European fleet of its kind. Regularly scheduled ferry and custom cruise boats connect the numerous villages and cities. My favorite to the sunset cruise from Lausanne to Vevey. There are many adventures from both Lausanne and Geneva along the shores of Lake Geneva. Be sure to visit “Jet d’eau”, a 140 meter high water fountain that is illuminated at night.

Kayaks and Crew boats can be rented from local vendors. The shopping is amazing and the bakeries and cafes are the best! This area also offers moderate level cycling trails that go for miles and miles. StarkTours can help you set up equipment rentals with our local connections. It’s also possible to kayak or cycle from one village hotel to the other and avoid all the traffic and roads all together. Just ask for the FIT trip on Lake Geneva. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADay 1 – The three-hour descent of the Arve by raft leads 8km over six waterfalls and through glorious Alpine scenery – before passing straight through Geneva, ending where the Arve flows into the Rhone. This whitewater adventure is nonetheless easy, and suitable for novices.

Day 2 – Kayak along the Lake Geneva shoreline, stopping to enjoy lunch at one of the many local restaurants.

Day 3 – Take a cruise to Vevey or Geneva to explore the areas true beauty. Enjoy a walk along the lanes that connect both towns.

Day 4 – Kayak the west coastline to Rolle today. Stop in Morges for lunch. Start early, this is a long day if you plan to return. Booking a pension in Rolle is easy for us to assist you with.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADay 5 – Kayak along the east coastline to Cully for dinner and enjoy the tourist sites and shops along the shore. Summer and Fall are both so  beautiful in this area.

Day 6 – Cycle along the east trail past Cully and onto Rivaz. The paths are protected from cars in most all locations after you exit the Lausanne city areas.

Day 7 – While its recommended to stay at least 10 days not everyone has the time. Transfer to the airport for your morning departure home!
